John Layman Curry, Jr., 82, of Florence, New Jersey died Thursday, August 17, 2017 at his home.

He was born August 23, 1934 in Mountain Grove, Virginia, the son of the late John Layman Curry, Sr. and Mary Rexrode Curry.

John was a retired Major in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his niece, Carolyn Hefner of Lost River, West Virginia, and nephew, Donnie Huggins of Waynesboro, Virginia.

John was preceded in death by his sisters: Mary Frances Townsend and Lois Jean Jennings.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 at Mountain Grove Cemetery with Rev. Dick Boyer officiating.

  2. I worked with John at McGuire AFB for years. John was a highly skilled architect and instrumental in establishing architectural standards for the entire base. John designed and built his home on the Delaware River and it was every bit as unique and nice as the great architect Frank Lloyd Wright. God bless you John!
