John Sherrel Callahan, 92, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Saturday, August 23, 2014 at his residence.
He was born December 15, 1921 in Marion, Virginia, the son of the late Jacob and Dellia Callahan.
He was employed as a warehouse worker in Richmond and a retired farmer.
He loved his family, watching old westerns, enjoyed dancing and music, and raised beautiful roses.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Frances L. Ailstock of Moseley, Virginia, Elizabeth A. Ailstock of Hot Springs and Imalee Rogers of Carloover, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes; a granddaughter, Barbara Rogers; a great grandchild, Angel Ailstock; and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday August 27, 2014 at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Moseley, Virginia, with Reverend Lee Ellison officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery in Moseley.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the church.
