Joyce B. Polane, 70, of 124 Incubator Hollow Road, Hot Springs, Virginia died peacefully Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at her residence.
She was born December 21, 1940 in Mountain Grove, Virginia the daughter of the late Alden Bird and Margaret Curry Bird.
She was married to Jerry Polane whom he married at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in 1965.
Mrs. Polane was a masseuse for the Homestead Resort; and a waitress for over 30 years at the Cascade Inn. She was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Polane of Hot Springs; seven brothers, Richard Bird and Douglas “Mac” Bird both of Hot Springs, Dennis “Pete” Bird of Warm Springs, Virginia, Benjamin Bird of Arlington, Virginia, Dewight Bird of Orlando, Florida, Robert “Jim” Bird of Las Vegas, Nevada and Danny Bird of Covington, Virginia; seven sisters, Aldene Fry, Betty Harold, Peggy Smith and Carol Martin all of Hot Springs, Libby Hopkins of Churchville, Virginia, Thelma “Polly” Chestnut of Mountain Grove, Virginia and Phyllis Livesay of Lewisburg, West Virginia; her dog, Chopper; special neighbors Alex and Brand Plogger; many loving caregivers; and a number of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
A memorial service will held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Father David Cox officiating.
