Kathleen Mae Sprouse, 85, of Craigsville, Virginia died Friday, July 20, 2012 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
She was born January 11, 1927 in Augusta County, Virginia the daughter of the late Hubert & Gertrude Samples Landes. She graduated from Craigsville High School with the class of 1944. She was married to the late Cebert M. Sprouse who preceded her in death on May 16, 1985. She retired from Stillwater Worsted Mills after many years of service and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Craigsville. Mrs. Sprouse loved going to Church. Attending various Church functions throughout the community, cross-stitching, and spending time with her family were her favorite activities.
She is survived by a daughter, Ellen Kay Campbell & husband Gary of Smithfield, Virginia; a son Marshall Sprouse & wife Debbie of Craigsville; two grandsons, Josh Sprouse of Stuarts Draft, Virginia & Toby Sprouse of Craigsville; two brothers, Glenn Landes & Wife Almeta of Roanoke, Virginia, & Ralph Landes of South Boston, Virginia; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Gordon and Helen Landes; and a brother, Roy Landes.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Craigsville Funeral Home with Pastor Claude Williams officiating and Pastor Ryan Schaeffer assisting. Burial will follow at Estaline Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Fox, Gary Colvin, Stacey Mitchell, Bill Curry, Wayne Campbell and Nelson Sours. Honorary pallbearers will be friends in attendance.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Marshall & Debbie Sprouse, 57 Howard Street, Craigsville, Virginia 24430.   3. Kay, I’m so glad that Jeanne Marie and I got to have a last high school reunion with your Mom a few weeks ago. Now she will be reunited with classmates that have gone before. May God give you the comfort and peace you’ll need in the coming days.
