Lettie Mae Peery Cauley, 84, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025, at her residence.

She was born March 12, 1941, in Bath County, Virginia, the daughter of the late William “Bill” Edward Peery and Olivia Lanier Pole Thomas Peery.

She was formerly employed at the Homestead Resort where she worked in the kitchen. Prior to that she was a beautician.

Lettie Mae was a member of the Healing Springs Baptist Church and the Bath County Emergency Committee. She was an excellent gardener who had an amazing “green thumb” working with flowers. She loved to sit on her porch gazing at the clouds, the mountains, and watching the cars go by. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She was a special grandma not only to Billy, but to Justin & Alex as well.

She was married to the late Hubert Thornton Cauley who preceded her in death on August 25, 2024.

She is survived by a son, Dennis Carter of Hot Springs, Virginia; a grandchild, Billy Baldwin & Amanda of Greenville, Virginia; a son-in-law, Tommy Baldwin of Warm Springs, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Smokey Joe Stover of Hot Springs; nieces and nephews, Cindy Fry and husband Kevin, Brian Stover, Renea Lindsay and husband David, Paul Peery & wife Melissa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen Carter and Tracie Baldwin; two brothers, Clarence Peery & Harold Peery; and a sister, Patricia Stover.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Union Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Richard Goforth officiating. Pallbearers will be Tommy Baldwin, Billy Baldwin, David Lindsay, Justin Lindsay, Alex Lindsay, Kenny Wolfe, Paul Peery, Brian Stover.

Dennis and family,you all are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,she was truly a sweet lady and I thought a lot of her,our talks and acting a fool when she would come to the hospital were priceless and I will never forget those and she always called me Miss Highland County,I will hold this close to my heart.May God Bless You All
