Louise Elizabeth Griffin, 79, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2024, at her residence with her family by her side. This was the anniversary of her mother’s passing 14 years earlier.

She was born February 1, 1945, in White Rock, Nelson County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Carless W. Demastus and Daisy B. (Campbell) Demastus.

She was married to the late Stanley B. Griffin, her loving husband of 30 years, whom she married on April 17, 1965. He preceded her in death on June 27th, 1995.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, James M. Demastus of Florida.

Louise retired from ASR (American Safety Razor) with 38 years of service. She had several special friends from ASR including Carolyn Dameron, Alice Swisher, Mary Ann Hall, and Carolyn Stephenson.

She was most recently a faithful member of the Middlebrook Church of God. Louise was a caretaker for both of her parents for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, visiting with friends, gardening, and church activities. She hosted many meals at her home.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “Nanny”, and caring friend. She has been blessed with many wonderful friends throughout the years including lifelong friends Barbara Coffey, Sissy Taylor, and Betty McLaughlin, and Sam Beasley. She is survived by two children, Keith L. Griffin of Stuarts Draft, and Kimberly G. Young and husband Joe and two granddaughters, whom she deeply cherished, Hope and Sara Young, all of Stuarts Draft.

She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members as well as a faithful friend and sister-in-law Ava Griffin.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her friend, and neighbor Betty Proctor.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Stuarts Draft Christian Fellowship Church, 216 Howardsville Tpke., formally Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church with Pastor Larry Strickler officiating. Interment will be in the Stuarts Draft Christian Fellowship Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Eavers, Tony Fitzgerald, Tucker Fretwell, Clay Craig, Eric McLaughlin, Eddie Dameron, and Matt Beyeler.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church with a fellowship meal following the service.

  1. I have know Louise since I was a little girl. When I became a teenager, I even baby sat for her. We had a lot of good times at family cook outs just hanging out.

  2. Louise was my best friend for 73 years. We had a lot of good times. When our children came along, we spent many hours together. We did cookouts, amusement parks, sleigh riding at Rankins, bonfires, and hanging out at fire pits. I will surely miss her and our secrets. R I P

  9. Louise was a good friend to me. I met her through my sister, Betty Proctor, about five years ago. We had a lot of laughs together and she is surely going to be missed. I that God will strengthen her family and friends through this difficult time.

    How sorry I am for your loss of Louise. She was a kind, thoughtful neighbor and my spirits were lifted after chatting with her and am glad I met her. I pray you will find comfort and strength as you prepare for Louise’s earthly goodbye, knowing you will be reunited one day. May God bless.

  14. So very sorry to read of Louise’s passing. We were in a small women’s group at Church on the Hill 3-4 yrs ago. She came with Sam Beasley. She was a wonderful lady.
