IMG_3668Lynda Elizabeth Wiley Owens, 70, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

She was born July 27, 1947 in Covington, Virginia, the daughter of the late Chester Harvey Wiley, Sr. and Emma Florence Wallace Wiley.

Mrs. Owens retired from the Homestead Resort where she worked in the main dining room. Lynda was a 1966 graduate of Watson High School. After school, she moved to Hot Springs where she met her husband and they were married on August 21, 1968. Mrs. Owens later was employed by Bath Community Hospital. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she served as the church treasurer for over 25 years; and was a member of the United Voices.

Mrs. Owens is survived by her husband of 49 years, Hall Owens of Hot Springs; two children, Erica Owens-Dobson of Glen Burnie, Maryland and Halletta Owens of Columbia, Maryland; four brothers, Reverend Chester H. Wiley Jr. & wife Laverne of Moneta, Virginia, Steven M. Wiley & wife Eloise of Fayetteville, North Carolina, David L. Wiley, Sr. of Louisville, Kentucky, Walter W. Wiley & wife Julie of Troutville, Virginia; a sister, Carolyn L. Holloway of Cloverdale, Virginia; four sisters-in-law, Mary E. Mance of Clayton, Georgia, Lillie M. Hall of Franklin, North Carolina, Hattie P. Fortson and Sadie L. Owens both of Clayton; three brothers-in-law, Robert L. Owens & wife Synethia of Franklin, R. Keith Owens & wife Felicia, Ulysses Owens all of Clayton; and a host of nieces, nephews & cousins.

Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by a brother Robert C. Wiley & a sister Laura M. Ware; and a brother-in-law & a sister-in-law.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 at McLaughlin & IMG_3669Young Funeral Home in Hot Springs with Reverend W. Ed Mansfield officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
