Madeline B. Brinkley, 84, of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia.

She was born August 25, 1926 in Bath County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Dewey Baldwin and Mary Page Rodgers Baldwin. She was married to Alvin Lee Brinkley who preceded her in death on July 4, 1985.

She was a graduate of Valley High School. She worked for Mr. & Mrs. George Beach for over 30 years. She attended Healing Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Brinkley was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was always happy and loved people; she would do anything for anyone.

She is survived by her eight children, Phyllis Carter and husband Jimmy of Charlotte, North Carolina, Dewey Brinkley & wife Alma of La-Porte, Texas, Linda Holsinger and husband Mike of Strasburg, Virginia, Mary Sue Smith & husband Eddie of Falling Springs, Virginia, Crystal Brinkley of Woodstock, Virginia, Debbie Kay Brinkley of Hot Springs, Tina Marie Cote & husband Mark of Blacksburg, Virginia and Lizabeth “Scottie” Brinkley of Hot Springs; a sister Thelma B. Rodgers of Hot Springs; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Baldwin.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2011 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor John Klink and Pastor Steve Shaver officiating. Interment will be in the Warm Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jason Stokes, Justin Smith, Kirk Carter, Mark Roller and friends, Michael Brown and Keith McElwee. Honorary pallbearers will be her eight children and their spouses whom she loved very much, her grandson, Kasey Brinkley and her caregivers who have been with her over the past years.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home or anytime at the home of Madeline Brinkley on 471 Forestry Road in Hot Springs.
