Marion Harvey “Polly” Jackson, 84, of 6615 Hot Springs Road, Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Saturday evening, January 29, 2011 at the Bath Community Hospital in Springs.

She was born February 1, 1926 in Alleghany County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Fred Joe Lemon and Katie Lilly King Lemon. She was married to the late Clarence Jackson who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jackson was retired from the Homestead Resort where she worked in the dining room for over 40 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Covington. She loved to visit and help those who could not help themselves.

She is survived by her son Clarence “Custer” Jackson, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia; a grandson Shawn Washington of Richmond; a brother, Leroy Lemon of Washington D.C.; a niece, Linda Cardwell & husband Rudy of Hot Springs; a special cousin, Rosemary Webb of Hot Springs, whom Polly took care of for many years;  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Vivien M. Jones Jackson; 2 sisters, 8 brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Reverend W. Ed Mansfield officiating and Reverend Ken Goodmiller assisting. Interment will be in the Greenhill Lemon Family Cemetery in Alleghany County, Virginia. Pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Immediately following the services, everyone is invited to the Piney Grove Baptist Church Social Hall for a time of food and fellowship with the family.
