Marshall Durwood Colvin, Sr., 74, of 151 Church Street, Millboro, Virginia, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs, Virginia.
He was born January 12, 1936 in Augusta County, Virginia, the son of the late James Kemper Colvin and Ruby Griffin Colvin. He was married to his wife of 45 years, Betty C. Colvin of Millboro. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 2007, with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Millboro Presbyterian Church; the Millboro Fire Department; and the Potomac Hunt Club. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He loved his family very much and enjoyed taking care of them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Marshall “Junior” Colvin & wife Nancy of Hot Springs, a daughter, Amy Ingram & husband Joe of Millboro; three grandchildren, Jacob, Jared and Joseph Ingram of Millboro; five brothers, Roy Colvin of Titusville, Florida, Guy Colvin of Alexandria, Virginia, Charles Colvin of Waynesboro, Virginia, Harold Colvin of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Ronnie Colvin of Craigsville, Virginia; and a sister Bessie Colvin of Craigsville.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald, Archie, Dave & Coolie Colvin; and a sister, Leona Golloday.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the Millboro Christian Church Cemetery, with Reverend John Haney officiating and Bobby Spurgeon, assisting.
Pallbearers will be Jacob, Jared & Joseph Ingram, Andy Carter, Linkie Ingram and Hugh Myers.
