Mary Elizabeth Avis

Mary Elizabeth Avis, 53, of Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 at Bath Community Hospital.
She was born June 7, 1959 in Bath County, Virginia to Arnold Gwin & the late Catherine T. Gwin. On January 3, 1982, Mary was united in marriage with Rodney Lee Avis. She was a homemaker and provided home cleaning services to the community. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “Mimi”, and was very loyal to her clients. She touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of thirty years, Rodney Lee Avis of Hot Springs; her father, Arnold Gwin of Hot Springs; three daughters, April Thomas Rogers & husband John of Hot Springs, Elizabeth Ann Avis & fiancé Charles Keyser of Hot Springs, and Tabatha Dawn Avis & fiancé Jayme Roberts of Burnsville, Virginia; a special daughter, Cecilia Boyles of Covington, Virginia; a son, Gaje Stephen Thomas of Hot Springs; a sister, Loretta Thomas of Covington; a brother, Kenny Gwin & wife Lygenia of Hot Springs; three special sisters, Lynda Kriznik of Bolar, Virginia, Joyce Johnson and Beverly Adkins, both of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Kristin Rogers of Hot Springs, Easton Roberts of Burnsville, and Tatum Keyser of Hot Springs; and a nephew, Jamie Gwin & wife Amy of Hot Springs.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Gwin, George Thomas and Stephen Thomas; and a nephew, Christopher Gwin.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the home of Kenny & Lygenia Gwin, 1933 Jackson River Turnpike, Hot Springs, Virginia 24445.
