Michael Dwight Bennett, 38, of Goshen, Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021, in Goshen, Virginia when an automobile accident took the lives of Michael, his girlfriend, Samantha “Sammy” Day, 28 and his son, Dakota Nathaniel Bennett, age 6.
He was born May 21, 1983 in Low Moor, Virginia, the son of the Eddie Dwight Bennett and Elizabeth Marie Ailstock.
Michael worked as a laborer with Alleghany Asphalt. Previously worked as a plumber for Gene King.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to paint pictures with acrylics and colored pencils. He was a craftsman who enjoyed working with wood. He was a loving son, brother, and father.
He is survived by his father, Eddie Dwight Bennett of Marlinton, West Virginia; his mother, Elizabeth Marie Ailstock of Natural Wells, Virginia; a daughter, Chloe Bennett of Goshen, Virginia; three brothers, David Bennett & wife Amber of Texas, Christopher Bennett of Oakwood, Virginia, Eddie Bennett, Jr. & wife Danielle of Danville, Virginia; three sisters, Arieanna McDorman of Lynchburg, Virginia, Cassandra McDorman of Richwood, West Virginia, Victoria McDorman of Covington, Virginia.
In addition to his girlfriend and son, he was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin Bennett who passed away in 1996.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Zach Royer officiating.

Wow very sad in reading this today,Ive known this guy and his family for many years but hadnt seen any of the boys since they were young, Hate that Libby is going through so much I remember Michael as the talkative one, he always had funny things to say and stayed close to Mom. He was a good boy then, I am sure he was a wonderful loving father and Husband. Very sorry for this loss Rest in Peace Michael
