Millie Darlene Hiner Williams, 61, of Millboro, Virginia passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Hot Springs.

She was born August 7, 1962, in Hot Springs, Virginia, the daughter of the late William Samuel “Sam” Hiner, Sr.  and Barbara Elaine Pritt Hiner.

Millie was employed with Bath Community Rehab & Wellness Center as a Certified Senior Fitness Specialist. She began her career Bath Community Hospital as a Candy Striper while she was still in high school. She later moved into the respiratory department and then into the wellness center. Altogether she served the citizens of Bath County at the hospital for over 42 years.

Mille was a quiet, gentle person who was always willing to help others. Through her work at the wellness center, she came in contact with many people all of whom were proud to call her a friend. She had a beautiful heart and soul. She made an impact on so many people and will be greatly missed by all. Millie was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors and working with flowers. She enjoyed hunting deer and turkey. She was a loving wife, mother, and sister.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Douglas Dane Williams whom she married on January 27, 1983; a son, Travis Williams & wife Emma of Hot Springs; a sister, Angie Lindsay of Hot Springs; two brothers, William “Sam” Hiner, Jr., and James “Short” Hiner both of Roanoke, Virgina; a special friend, Ann Jordan of Hot Springs; an aunt, Pearl Buzzard of Hot Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry “Turtle” Pritt.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Reverend Garland Humphries officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony McCune, Jack Lindsay, Wayne Bush, Jim Redington, Hans Hueber, Doug Hirsh, Eric Terry, Timmy Dunnagan, and Steve Curtain.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

  3. Thinking of all of you in your loss of such a special person. Her smile always brought joy to me. She had such a caring manner throughout her life. She was a character as far back as high school. She could always bring out the best in the people around her. We are all better for having known her.   5. I am so sorry to get this news. Millie was a sweet lady. I had the privilege of working with her for 8.5 yrs and I loved it. She and I were great friends and BCH lost one of the best. My prayers go out to her family and co-workers for they all loved her so much. God rest her soul, I’ll see you again one day my friend. Until then, you rest in Peace and know you remain in our hearts forever.

    • I knew Doug Millie Travis..”Cousins”.❤️Our deepest condolences to Doug, Travis, both families. When visiting log house in Milboro,
      my father Edward Clark needed to go to hospital and Millie helped both him & my mom at the hospital, during that trying time. She was an angel. We will keep the families in our prayers.

  18. I was very sad to hear of Millie’s passing. I worked with Millie at the hospital. She was so incredibly kind and sweet to me and everyone she met. She gave me a blue bird and reminded me they are a symbol of joy and hope. I have it displayed in my home and always think of her when I see it. Sending prayers to the family. May God continue to grant you peace and wonderful memories give you comfort.
