Phyllis “Baby” Braxton Mack, 67, of 6701 Valley View Drive, Hot Springs, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

She was born November 24, 1948 in Hot Springs, Virginia, the daughter of the late Beverly L. Braxton, Sr. and Pattie Jackson Braxton.

She was retired from Bath Community Hospital with 45 years of service.

She was a member of The Piney Grove Baptist Church; a Trustee for Pinehurst Cemetery; and one of the founders of the Bath County Christmas Parade. She was a loving wife, sister and aunt. She was a graduate of Valley High School and was the first integrated class to graduate. She made beautiful cakes for many people in Bath County and she loved and enjoyed her cats.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Donald Winfred Mack whom she married on September 23, 1979; a sister, Carolyn B. Jackson of Hot Springs; 2 sisters-in-law, Gloria Braxton of Hot Springs and Hazel Braxton of Luray, Virginia; a brother-in-law, William H. Mack of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Charles Braxton, Beverly Braxton, Jr. & Roger Braxton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Reverend W. Ed Mansfield officiating. Interment will be in Pinehurst Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Jackson, Douglas Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Harry Scott, Tony Butler, Lynn Braxton, Travis Braxton, Jr. and Bryan Braxton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hall Owens, Oscar Beale and Woodrow Pettus. Flower Bearers will be the Ladies from Piney Grove Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 329, Hot Springs Virginia, 24445.

So sorry to hear about the death of Phyllis Mack, I had the pleasure of working with Phyllis for several years at Bath County Community Hospital and enjoyed every minute we were able to chat and talk when time permitted. My most fondest memories of Phyllis was her kind smile and her God given talent of cake baking and decorating.
    Family please lean on the scripture of Matthew 5:4- Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

    Heaven has definitely gained another Angel and let’s rejoice in the presence of the Lord for accepting another loved one into His heavenly home.
