Phyllis Lee Brinkley Carter, 70, of Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Clifton Forge, Virginia.
She was born April 13, 1948 in Hot Springs, Virginia, the daughter of the late Alvin Dewey Brinkley and Madeline Brinkley.
Phyllis was employed as a private culinary chef and last job as an insurance agent in Gastonia, N.C.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Robert Carter of Clifton Forge; children, Tammy Brown and husband Dave of Stevensville, Montana, Kirk Carter and sweetheart Donna Drewery of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; granddaughter, Gabrielle Carter of Kings Mountain, NC; brother, Dewey Brinkley and wife Alma of Verona; sisters, Linda Holsinger and husband Mike of Strasburg, Mary Sue Smith and husband Eddie of Falling Springs, Crystal Brinkley of Woodstock, Tina Coté and husband Mark of Blacksburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her sisters, Scottie and Debbie Brinkley.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Virginia Chapel Church with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating and Pastor Virgil Woody assisting. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Interment will be at Warm Springs Cemetery.
