Robert Duane Hawks, 91, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2023, at the Springs Nursing Center in Hot Springs, Virginia.

He was born April 8, 1932, in Hot Springs, Virginia, the son of the late William Aubrey Hawks and Ethel Belle Graham Hawks and his stepmother, Della Jean Hawks.

Mr. Hawks was employed by Viking Bowling Alley in Roanoke in the mechanics department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, and father.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jeanette Carpenter Hawks whom he married in 1954; two children, Roger Duane Hawks of Floyd, Virginia and Steven Mitchell Hawks & wife Brenda of Roanoke, Virginia; four sisters, Joyce Wolfe, Jo Ann Stubben, Brenda Humphries, and Lynn Hawks.

He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony “Tony” Hawks; brothers Herbert Hoover Hawks, Edgar Woodrow Hawks, William Powell Hawks, Gerald Hawks, and Jackie Roberts.

A memorial service will held at a later date.
