Robert William Lacks, 81, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs.

He was born July 1, 1940, in Covington, Virginia, the son of the late Floyd William Lacks and Anna Elizabeth Rhodes Lacks.

Mr. Lacks was a paint contractor with over 50 years of service. He was a veteran of the National Guard.

He was a member of Eden United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the Eden United Methodist Men. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved training coon & squirrel dogs. He enjoyed working in his garden & building and remodeling houses. He always bragged about painting every big house in Bath County, some he even painted twice!

He is survived by  his wife of 61 years, June Elizabeth “Sue” Lacks whom he married on August 31, 1960;  a son, Robert Todd Lacks and Kim DePoppie of Bluffton, South Carolina;  grandchildren, Robert Whitney Lacks & wife Meghan, Andrew Bonner Lacks & wife Nina, Samuel Tanner Lacks & wife Skylnn, Jillian DePoppie, Alyssa DePoppie, and Jackson DePoppie; four great grandchildren, Magnolia Lee “Nola” Lacks, Clementine June “Lemi” Lacks, Olive Cole “Ozzie” Lacks, and Madelyn Rose Lacks; two brothers, James Floyd Lacks & wife Deanna of Oakland, Tennessee, and Jerry Wayne Lacks of Covington, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Lee Lacks.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Eden United Methodist Church with Pastor Sang Lee and Pastor David George officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eden United Methodist Church, 3740 Switzerland Trail, Hot Springs, VA 24445.
