WilliamsRoy Simon Williams, 76, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015 at his residence.

He was born January 1, 1939 in Warm Springs, Virginia, the son of the late Simon Peter Williams and Mabel Virginia Hodge Williams.

Mr. Williams retired from the United States Army with 33 years of service. He worked for the Virginia Hot Springs Telephone Company that later became TDS, with 25 years of service.

He was a former member of the Clifton Forge Moose and served on the Bath County Retirement Home Committee. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather. He was an accomplished golfer and bowler. He enjoyed playing cards, playing scratch lottery tickets and ginseng hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Carol Pritt Williams of Hot Springs; children, Doug Williams & wife Kathy of Springfield, Tennessee, Dale Williams of Staunton, Virginia, Donald Williams & wife Karen of Hot Springs, Denise Williams of Hot Springs, Missy Reynolds & husband Chris of Covington, Virginia and Lori Nelson & husband Brian of Hot Springs; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brothers, James Arnold Williams & wife Veneda of Clinton, Tennessee, Frankie Williams of Sweden and Dennis Williams & wife Ann of Bedford, Virginia; sisters, Opal Gazzola of Hot Springs, Virginia, Twila Lee & husband Jim of Harrisonburg, Virginia; his Best Friend Willy Graham of Hot Springs; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Leo, Carl & Aubrey Williams and 3 sisters, Linda Stoneham, Vada Lipscomb & Alma Stevenson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2015 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Shaver officiating. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Staley Hutton, Justin Hutton, Jimmy Wilhelm, Michael Roberts, Jesse Lambert and James Carpenter.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home or anytime at the home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Union Chapel Cemetery.
