Ruby Ann Adkins, 82, of 106 Knolltree Road, Hot Springs, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at her residence.
She was born July 30, 1930 in West Virginia , the daughter of the late William Hunter Wickline and Della Mae Dillion Wickline.
She was married to the late Oren Weldon Adkins who preceded her in death on August 18, 2001.
She was employed at Bath Community Hospital in the dietary department with 50 years of service. Ruby was a member of Eden United Methodist Church where she always took an active part in making apple butter and numerous other church activities. She was a former member of Regular Baptist Church in Ballard, West Virginia. She loved to bake and cook. She was a loving mother and “granny”.
She is survived by her two children, Hershel Adkins & wife Carol of Warm Springs, Virginia and Jimmie D. Adkins of Hot Springs; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Adkins of Covington, Virginia & fiancé Boyd Mundy of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Jerry Adkins & special friend Dawn Hall of Roanoke, Virginia, Alan Wayne Adkins & wife Jeannie of Covington, Jonathan Gwin & wife Ashley of Covington and Matthew Gwin & wife Shannon of Hot Springs; 6 great grand children, Kassedi Brynn Estes of Covington, Shanna “Punk” Adkins of Covington, Alexis & Alex Gwin of Covington, Saige & Wyatt of Hot Springs; 3 brothers, James Wickline of Lindside, West Virginia, Junior Wickline of Lindside, Harold Wickline of Greenville, West Virginia; 2 sisters; Lucille Dove of Beckley, West Virginia and Shelby Harman of Lindside; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Gwin; 3 brothers, George, Clyde and Douglas Wickline; and 2 sisters, Clara Walton and Mae Susan Wickline.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012 at the Warm Springs Cemetery with Reverend Lorrie Aikens officiating. The family will receive friends at anytime at the home of Matthew & Shannon Gwin at 103 Knolltree Road, Hot Springs.
