Shirley Anne Cook May, 83, of Bacova, Virginia died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at her residence.
She was born August 24, 1933 in Callaghan, Virginia, the daughter of the late Gilmer Patton Cook and Maggie King Cook.
She was the former owner and operator of The Gift Caboose.
She was a member of Fletchers Chapel in Callaghan and enjoyed going to flea markets and yard sales. She liked to paint and was a wonderful cook. Everyone loved her homemade bread! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Ashby Milton May of Bacova; a son, Larry Milton May of Bacova; a daughter, Terry May Butler & husband Ronnie Morris Butler of Bacova; 3 grandchildren, Shana May Hatzopoulos of Chesapeake, Virginia, April Renee Graves of Dallas, Texas, Richard Ashby Graves & fiancée Vonia Bailey of Lake Charles, Louisiana; a great grandchild, Nicholas Hatzopoulos of Chesapeake.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Gilmer Patton Cook, Jr. and Gerald Duane Cook.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating.
