IMG_1281Shirley Ann Harold Foster, 75, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away August 10, 2018 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor, Virginia.

She was born February 22, 1943 in Bath County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Russell Frederick Harold, Sr. and Anna Marguerite May Harold.

Shirley was a private sitter who enjoyed watching sports on TV especially the Atlanta Braves and UVA. She loved to crotchet and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ernest Elwood Foster who preceded her in death on August 20, 1992 & Robert Lockridge Foster who preceded her in death on July 8, 1997.

She is survived by two children, Lisa Foster Matheny of Hot Springs, Steven Foster & Fiancé Kamila Feury of Covington, Virginia; a grandchild, Christi Nicole Matheny of Hot Springs; two brothers, Russell Frederick “Freddie” Harold, Jr. of Hot Springs, Roger Paul “Curly” Harold & wife Elda of Hot Springs; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by brother, Larry Ray Harold.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vincent Broce, Jacob Broce, Jay Bryant, Nathan Harold, Casey Bradberry and Keaton Hall.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, Virginia 24426.

  2. To Steve, Lisa, and Christie and all of the family I am sorry for your loss Shirley was good to me and Kristen when we were part of your family and even after we no longer were She will be missed by many including us.
