Thelma Baldwin Rodgers, 89, of 160 Wilkerson Lane, Hot Springs, Virginia died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at her residence.
She was born February 15, 1924 in Bath County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Dewey S. Baldwin and Mary Rodgers Baldwin. She was married to the late Edward “Ed” A. Rodgers, Sr. her husband of 58 years who preceded her in death on May 13, 2005.
Mrs. Rodgers was retired from the Bath County School Systems with 21 years of service. Prior to that she worked for the Homestead Resort in the personnel and payroll departments.
She was a 1943 graduate of Valley High School; a member of Ashwood United Methodist Church; an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching all kinds of sports.
She was survived by a sister-in-law, Clarice Rodgers of Hot Springs; special friends, Nora & Homer Simmons, Dickie & Susie Kershner all of Hot Springs and Rhonda Kennedy of Millboro, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Allen Rodgers, Jr. who passed away in 1987; a sister, Madeline Brinkley; and a brother, Lloyd D. Baldwin.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Warm Springs Cemetery with Reverend; Lynn Wright, officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Rodgers, David Rodgers, Ron Gray, Dickie Kershner, Mark Cote, Jerry Brinkley, Eddie Smith, Homer Simmons, Carl Chestnut, Buddy McLaughlin, Jesse Thompson. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at Ashwood United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hot Springs Rescue Squad, Ashwood United Methodist or Bath County Meals On Wheels.
