Theresa Octavia Scruggs Neff, 98, of Millboro, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, January 16, 2011 at Bath Community Hospital, Hot Springs, Virginia.
She was the wife of the late Benjamin Faircloth (Ferry) Neff who preceded her in death in 1999.Mrs. Neff was born on October 20, 1912 in Botetourt County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Henry Cabbet and Cora Blanch Scruggs. She was a homemaker, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother. Being of the Baptist faith, she was a Sunday school teacher at Woodland Union Church for many years.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by five sisters, one brother, one son-in-law, Edward Lowry; one great-granddaughter, Andraya Trimble; one grandson, Mark Middleton; and one adopted daughter, Pat Brinkley.
She is survived by five daughters; Dorothy Neff Middleton and husband William of Newport News, Virginia; Eleanor Neff Trimble and husband Burton of Millboro, Virginia; Lois Neff Blackburn and husband Talmadge of Millboro, Virginia; Mildred Neff Lowry of Lynchburg, Virginia; and Martha Neff Mitchell and husband Johnny of Fishersville, Virginia; one son, Wilson Neff and wife Carol of Millboro, Virginia; special friends, the Jerry Brinkley Family; twenty grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, and four great -great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at the Woodland Union Church in Millboro, Virginia with the Reverend Michael Rollins and the Reverend David George officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to the services. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
