Thomas Nelson Parker, Jr., 84, of Warm Springs, Va., formerly of Richmond and Clarksville, Va., passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at his residence .

Tom was born in Richmond on March 15, 1927, as the eldest child of T. Nelson Parker, Sr. and Elise Flannagan Parker. He is survived by his brother Edward R. Parker and sister Elizabeth Parker Paul both of Richmond. He is also survived by his children Elizabeth Parker Coughter , and her husband Jeff, Mary Harding Hodges and her husband Ryan, and T. Nelson Parker III and his wife Pamela, as well as nine grandchildren.

Tom was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia School of Law. He practiced law for over fifty years in Richmond and in Clarksville. He served his country as an officer in the United States Navy and the Commonwealth as a member of the House of Delegates. He also served on the Board of the Christian Children’s Fund. Tom was an avid Wahoo and no day was complete without the Richmond Times Dispatch and its crossword puzzle. Tom found great joy in the welcoming family of Warm Springs Presbyterian Church.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 2nd at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Warm Springs Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 238, Warm Springs, Virginia 24484.
