  1. I met Vanessa thru my sister Carolyn Carpenter when Scottie was here in SC at Fort Jackson, I invited Vanessa to stay with me so she could see Scottie graduate and would not have to spend money for a motel. Vanessa was a very sweet lady and I immediately fell in love with her when I met her and we became very good friends. She will be missed in so many ways. I had the first butterfly in my yard on the 23rd and thought it was odd that there was only one, later that night I found out about Vanessa’s passing, I knew then it was her coming to tell me goodbye.
My thoughts and prayers to all her family
