HOT SPRINGS— Wanda J. Redman Peery, 71, of 56 Addison Patch Road, Hot Springs, Virginia died Friday, January 27, 2012 at University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
She was born February 20, 1940 in Alleghany County, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Redman and Mae Simmons Redman.
Mrs. Peery was retired from the Homestead Resort with 23 years of service in the housekeeping department. She was a member of the Sinking Springs Presbyterian Church, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed gardening and flowers. She graduated from Valley High School with the class of 1958.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Peery, Jr. whom she married on November 6, 1959; two children, Johnny Peery & wife Nancy of Hot Springs and Pam Peery of Yorktown, Indiana; three grandchildren, Ashley Peery & fiancé Brandon Brown of Covington and Emily and Logan Peery of Hot Springs; a great grandson, Izak Brown of Covington; and a sister Trudy Rosemary Lee & husband Nathan of Covington, Virginia; a sister in law, Linda Grimes & husband Lynn of Dunmore, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis & Linwood Redman and two sisters, June Redman Hannah and Shirley Redman Lindsay.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Union Chapel Cemetery with Reverend Rob Sherrard officiating. Pallbearers will be Clarence Peery, Lynn Grimes, Lee Peery, Gray Peery, Joe Keyes, Billy Keyes and Gray Beverage. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Lowry, Harold Peery, Wayne Peery, David Grimes, Logan Peery and Brandon Brown.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to services, at McLaughlin and Young Funeral Home.
