CRAIGSVILLE — William Wayne “Joe” Thompson, 69, of 122 Little River Road, Craigsville, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, at his residence. He was born March 6, 1942, in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Thelmer Thompson and Eva Warren Thompson.
He was employed as a maintenance worker at Stillwater Worsted Mills in Goshen. He was a former member of the Craigsville & Augusta Springs Rescue Squad. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. He enjoyed working on the farm and loved animals.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Thompson of Craigsville; three brothers, Grover “Sonny” Thompson of Goshen, Roger Thompson and wife, Ethel, of Millboro and Douglas Thompson and wife, Lorraine, of Goshen; a sister, Brenda Brown of Millboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins; numerous friends; and his dog, Foxie.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Craigsville Funeral Home, with Pastor Tyler Clem officiating. Interment will be at Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jolly, David Burke, Timmy Burke, Jason Wilkins, Danny Clifton, Rick Clifton, Steve Lilley and Cody Lilley.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

    Sorry to hear about Joe’s passing. Although I haven’t seen him in many years, I still remember him as a good man. I know God’s arms have welcomed him into eternal rest.
