obit HodgeWilliam “Billy” Edward Hodge, 70, of Hot Springs, Virginia died Monday, April 25, 2016 at Bath Community Hospital.

He was born May 10, 1945 in Hot Springs, Virginia, the son of the late Edward Campbell Hodge and Evelyn Catherine Bogan Hodge.

Billy was previously employed as a delivery driver for Home Oil & Gas Company for 37 years.

He was a veteran of the US Army, stationed in Korea.

Billy was a member of Starr Bolar United Methodist Church and also attended Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to camp and square dance.  Billy was well known as a great conversationalist.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen “Bootsie” Josephine Woodzell Hodge of Hot Springs; children: Bobbie Jo Adams of Hot Springs, Christopher Lindsay & wife Brenda of Oklahoma, Cresha Lindsay of Hot Springs; grandchildren: Alyssa Lindsay of Oklahoma, Austin Tuley and Ryan Lindsay, both of Hot Springs; sisters; Nettie Lindsay & husband David, and Betty Hicklin, both of Hot Springs; brother-in-law: Kenny Woodzell & wife Tess of Hot Springs; sisters-in-law: Cookie Meadows, Gray Hanson, and Patsy Woodzell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by 2 special brothers-in-law: Jack Hicklin & Luke Meadows; a nephew Royce Burns; and a brother-in-law Jack Woodzell.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Lorrie Aikens officiating. Interment will be in Jacob Cleek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Hicklin, Gary Rexrode, Mike Meadows, Frankie Hicklin, Clyde Burns, and Dallas Meadows

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Doris Via Cancer Fund or the Hot Springs Rescue Squad.

  1. I’m so saddened to here of Bill’s passing,we played together as kid’s when I would stay with him. I have very fond memories of us going to the dairy where his dad worked & he would give us a pint bottle of milk to get us to go outside & play, Bootsie,Betty,& Netti Lou, you all have my Deepest Sympathy, I’ll continue to pray, our Lord & Saviour will draw you close to him, GOD BLESS
